I think that you need authentication for the smallest unit you will
pass to a higher level service, but I am not convinced that there will
be a need to do authentication on anything other than complete blocks.
Why bother? I don't think that there is much benefit to be gained by
sharing blocklets among peers, so why authenticate the blocklets? I can
understand why, in a perfect world, we would want to close off a
relatively insignificant and almost impossible to capitalize upon
attack vector, but I don't see this as being worth the effort given
other priorities.
