[mnet-devel] building optimized crypto

I suggest that Build Managers for Unixy systems set the environment variable
"BUILD_OPTIMIZED_CRYPTO=yes" and make. (You do *not* need to make clean after
changing the environment variable -- the GNUmakefile will detect the change and
rebuild what has to be rebuilt.)

If your compiler/platform combination can't build optimized crypto, you'll get a
build failure, in which case you should set BUILD_OPTIMIZED_CRYPTO=no and
rebuild (again -- no need to make clean).

Known to fail: anyplatform with gcc < 3.0, and Mac OS X with gcc < 3.2.

I'm not saying that Mac OS X with gcc 3.2 is known to work. I don't know if
anyone has tried it.

Regards,

Zooko
