It isn't a *strong* desire on my part. I have the feeling that making a break
with the past and doing things 100% The Twisted Way would ease the burden of
maintenance, but I'm open to different ideas.

Aha! So it is our fault for not answering this question of yours right away.
The current status is that branch_newnet is dead, having been successfully
merged onto HEAD. branch_metatrackerrouter is also dead, except that you've
committed a half-a-dozen patches to it since it was merged.
There are three people who are good candidates for merging your patches back
onto HEAD: you, me, and Myers.
I was going to start on it just now, and I started by grepping my e-mail
archives for messages from you, intending to find all of your patches and
apply each one in turn. Thus I encountered this letter of yours and responded
to it. :-)
