An acceptable answer, but it is trivial to eliminate SPOFs with 
multiple metatrackers and routing would not have a scaleability problem 
for quite a while.  I think that DHTs are cool and would be worth 
testing or even slowly starting to include as a parallel system (e.g. 
nodes could run the two systems, compare results, and report back any 
differences or problems) there are lots of unknowns out there and the 
thrashing around trying to find a new system to drop in has eaten up a 
lot of time and effort.
