[mnet-devel] a bunch of last-minute patches

I've been testing these for several days (on <9bzpp> if you recognize that 
nodeId).

Only 1 or 2 of them are definitely bugfixes, and one of those bugfixes I haven't 
yet conclusively determined that the fixed version works.

I don't want to CVS commit these because v0.6.2.350 is so stable at this point, 
and I kind of feel like if I invent a patch then Arno should be the one who CVS 
commits it and vice versa, in order to minimize the tendency of people to push 
cool patches in at the last minute.  ;-)

I will send them to mnet-devel one at a time with explanations and leave it up 
to Arno to put them in v0.6.2 or v0.6.3 or not at all.
